 Origin of Elk Dog...
The name "Elk Dog" comes from the Shawnee Indian language, the story goes, when the settler came here from Europe they brought their horses, which were not indigenous to this area, and native Indians had never seen one.
The Shawnee called the horses elkdog's because the horse was as big as an elk but the settlers used them to carry goods like the Indians have used dogs. and the horse looked like a combination of both.
This is why we have a cave drawing of a horse as our logo, not a dog as so many people have asked.

Ron found this term in a book many years ago, he used to take part in French and Indian war reenactments, he named his group the "Elk Dog Clan". After doing this for so many years most people referred to him as elkdog, so when he opened this car lot, Ron used the name most know him as, in fact a lot of people don't know his real name still today.

And now you know.
